Welcome once again to the new Termite webforum. This isn't so much a replacement for the termite club yahoo mailing list as an extension of it. The list will continue but only to send information about Termite releated events to subscribers
HOW DO I START POSTING ON HERE?
If you've never used a webforum, joining is really just like making a new email account on hotmail or yahoo. Go click on the link below the Termite logo that says [Register]. This will take you to a screen that asks you for some information. The instructions on the page are pretty self explanatory, but I have reproduced them here and added further explanation of what this info is used for
Username: This username will be used for logging into this forum. You can change your name by updating the "display name" in your profile. It doesnt have to be your real name, in fact most people on webforums prefer a false name. This could be the name of your music project, a peice of music that you like, or an obscure in-joke that just tickled your fancy at the time. It does help if it's something you remember, as it makes it easier when you log in next time.
Password: This is the password you will use to login to your account. All passwords must be a minimum of 6 characters long. We recommend passwords which contain both numbers and letters. You have to enter the password twice so that you can be sure you've typed it correctly.
Email: An activation email will be sent to this address. You must use the activation key in this email to enable your account.
Hide Email: By checking this option only you and staff members at this forum will be able to see your email address. None of the admin members will ever pass your email on to another person unless you ask them to.
Birthday: Proboards requires that you enter your birthday as to comply with US law. I know we're not in the US, but this information is kept private from other users anyway if you choose.
Show Age: Selecting "No" will hide your birthday and age from any non-staff members of this forum.
Gender: select your gender from the drop down list.
Hide Gender: Choose if you want to hide your gender.
Security Check: Please enter the letters and numbers displayed in the box to the left. All letters are capitals. This box is used to prevent computer programs acting as humans to sign up to the forum and post lots of annoying spam appearing on the forum.
Once you've done all this, read the terms and conditions below that. If you agree to them click on the I Agree button (you can leave it at I Dont Agree, but then you wont be able to register!)
Then click on Create Account.
When you do this an email is sent to the email adress you supplied in the above information. Go to your email account, find this email and open it. It will contain a link to click on to activate your account. There is nothing suspect about this, you're not being fished or hacked, it's what all webforum registration systems do to make sure that people making a new account are genuine and own the email address that they say they do.
So click on that link, it should bring you back to this forum, with a message thanking you for registering or something. You can now login to the forum using the Username and password you made up when you registered.
ANY PROBLEMS REGISTERING THEN PLEASE FEEL FREE TO LEAVE A MESSAGE ON HERE. THIS IS ONLY FOR REGISTRATION PROBLEMS
